History
The idea of setting up Adesemi was first mooted in 1993 at a global conference on telecommunications held in Cape Town , South Africa . At this conference, Monique Maddy , a Liberia American took up serious issues on telecommunications in the 21st century in Africa . Facts emerging from Ms. Maddy's presentation (part of her HBS, MBA'93 dissertation) were the motivating factors for Mazi Clement Owunna who eventually brought the Adesemi dream to Nigeria .
After initial negotiations both parties reached a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in which the former has 51% equity while the later holds 49%.
Armed with this agreement Mazi Owunna was introduced to Engr. Ndukwe Kalu who also had a vision and plan for a world-class OSP/ISP. Together they applied for 10 licenses out of which 7 have been secured. These 7 include VoiceMail, VSAT, ISP, CyberCafé, Payphone, Sales and Installation of IT equipment, Pre-paid calling cards and bandwidth resale.
